1st Day of School 2009

Today is the 1st day of school. Ethen is in 5th grade this year and Phoebe started 3rd grade! I can't believe how old they are. Their childhood is going by way to fast for me. They don't look like little kids to me anymore, but I guess I can't stop them from growing so I am trying to take in every moment.

Karaoke in Korea

This post is way overdue, but last night I was thinking about how fun it was to go karaoke in Korea. We spent and evening out with the area Stake President and his wife and they took us to one of their favorite karaoke spots. I have never done this and have to say it is soooo much fun! The walls are covered in velvet or something of that nature and there are comfy couches to sit on with lighting and a big screen playing video that has nothing to do with the song your singing, but that is what makes it so much fun! It was a great time and all the kids really got into it as well as my parents.

A New Quilt

Grandma Bergen made this beautiful quilt for Phoebe. She put a lot of hours into making it and Phoebe just loves it. It goes perfectly with her purple walls.

On the lake again

All the boys

Scott getting some BIG AIR

John catching some air

James wakeboarding

With James in town for a bit, we had to hit the lake again! Scott took us out to Lake Lavon for the the 1st time. He had a few rentals there in the last couple weeks and really liked it. The water was nice and cool without a lot of traffic for a Saturday. I had the thought to tell James to put on the helmet for one of his rides and it was a good thing because he had a pretty hard wreck. I think he felt a little rattled in the head for a bit. The padding in the helmet broke off a little, so it was a hard crash. But the rule is the bigger you go the harder you can fall. So go big or go home :) At first is seemed like everyone was wrecking a lot in the morning, but that settled down after awhile. Everyone had a great time!

Ethen's Talk

Ethen gave a really wonderful talk on the Holy Ghost at Phoebe's baptism. He was so nervous about getting up in front of a big crowd and having to speak, but agreed to do it anyway. He spent a good few days thinking of stories and things to say and even had some visual aids with him like his blanket, gecko, and a necklace. He spoke very clearly and it was even pretty long. We are so very proud of him for getting over his fear of public speaking and really making it a meaningful and special memory. He is such a great kid!

Phoebe's Baptism

Phoebe is officially a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grandma Bergen made a beautiful dress for her to be baptized in. They spent an afternoon together picking out the fabric and a pattern. It turned out just adorable. James flew into town and joined us along with John, Grandma Bergen, the Barr's, as well as lots of family friends and our neighbors the Mayfields. It was a really great turnout and Phoebe had lots of love and support on her special day.

A must have for everyone

This product is on the top of my list of MUST HAVE household items now. I had my doubts about the theory but tested it out today and can tell you the stuff really works! Not for BO. I haven't even tried it for the use it was made for, but for bug bites. I stepped straight into an ant pile today and got about 6 fire ant bites. It was starting to swell up and SUPER itching within a few minutes. Scott reminded me about the Ban and so I went and put it on. Instantly the itching was almost completely gone and then it never did swell up. I can't even see where the bites are. For those of you who don't have to deal with fire ant bites you probably think this is no big deal, but believe me it is! Supposedly you can put this stuff on any kind of bug bite and it will take away the itching and swelling. I am a true believer now and am so happy we just happened to be swimming at the neighbors a while ago when they had some long time friends over that told us about the little trick. I had never heard of this before so I thought I should spread the news to everyone. Yes, my life is one that gets excitement out of finding ant bite remedies! Go ahead and laugh all you want. I am ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!!!
