Star of the month X2
Ethen was awarded the star of the month for the core value of individuality! The really cool thing about it was that he got the award twice!!! One from his homeroom teacher and one from the P.E. teacher. That almost never happens to get it two times in one month. I will brag on Ethen a little here and just say that he is an exceptional student and good kid. Recently a friend of mine wrote me an email to tell me what a good kid he was. She happened to be in his class one day to observe another student and noticed how he kept his eyes on the teacher while another student was trying to distract him. I haven't seen this friend of mine in awhile and thought it was really nice of her to send me a note just to tell me about how great a kid I have. So there you go. Ethen is our Star of the Month!!!

Healthy Halloween Snack
Luke was in charge of bringing a snack to preschool today and since it is so close to Halloween I decided to have some fun. These vampire lip apples have a bit of peanut butter in the middle with candy corn fangs. Luke was so excited to take them to class that he didn't even want to eat breakfast. He was hoping to have the treats for breakfast instead! I managed to get him to eat some toast though.

Ethen With The Carry
I should not get so worked up over 5th grade football games, but I love watching Ethen play. He is in almost every play so that makes it fun for me. He is a great defensive player making sweet tackles all the time and he has speed. Here is a video of him carrying the ball.
Happy Birthday to John
Wow that makes a lot of smoke! We had a little party for John on his birthday! He turned 26 and we thought taking him out to dinner and making a cake with the kids all gathered around to sing to him would be fun. Mom and Dad even got in on the action via SKYPE. It was a fun time and I think he felt like a kid again with all my monkeys helping him open his presents :)

Best U2 Concert Experience Ever
We were able to go to see U2 this past Monday and had a GREAT time. Scott's brother Craig and his wife Suzanne came up and we all went together. They are hard core fans and are seeing this show 4 times! Thank you to John for watching our kiddos when I know he would have much rather been with us. We got really lucky and were able to get into the inner circle of the stage and stand right next to the back side of the walk around stage. They were right in front of us! It was so awesome. I must say that being in the pit is the best way to really feel like a part of the show. You can see everything so close. I swear Bono made eye contact with me once and when Scott yelled Adam's name he turned and look right at us. It was really cool!!!! I honestly don't even know how to explain how awesome of a night it was.
The opening act was a band out of Europe called The Muse. I wasn't very excited to see them, but they actually sounded really good and put on a fun little show. Then we got to watch all the lighting guys get strapped into their harnesses and buckle into chairs that were hoisted up into the ceiling where they sat holding spotlights for the whole show. It think that would be a sweet job to have!

They had bridges that connected the main stage out to the outer stage and they bridges would move right over our heads in the pit and U2 was just over our heads several times, singing right in front of us!!! AMAZING! We took tons of videos and pictures. If you haven't seen U2 in concert then you MUST. These pictures don't even capture how truly awesome it was.

Staring Contest
It's great to have an uncle to play with. Luke showed some superior abilities in the staring contest so it had to be documented. He won every time, except for the last try, and then John had to conveniently leave!

Vote 4 Phoebe
Phoebe ran for 3rd grade mayor this year. She was so into the whole thing. She came home and had all these great ideas for a speech and for making posters. I am pretty sure that most other parents were very involved in "helping" their kids with the speeches, but Phoebe did hers all on her own. Except for a few gramaticals. She had great ideas and I was so proud of her for being excited about it and executing everything. Ethen was even nice to help with drawing when she asked. She didn't win Mayor for 3rd grade but she is a winner in our house :) And she was told by lots of people that she had the best posters. If only 3rd graders knew that your supposed to vote for the person with the best posters! haha
