Crochet
From time to time I enjoy crocheting a new blanket. Part of the joy is going and picking out just the right colors of yarn. I may enjoy choosing colors as much as the final product that comes out. I can spend a ton of time holding different skeins together and envisioning the look they will make. Then I get started and go strong for about a week. The beginning is always fun because I am coming up with a unique pattern each time. As I go along the pattern may change a bit from what I originally intended and I really enjoy the creative process this gives me. Yet it never fails that once I hit the halfway point and know the pattern will just be repeating that I slow down and wait until a month or 2 goes by before picking it up again. This is where I am at with a current blanket. This is for a friend that is having a baby in a couple weeks though, so I really need to get back at it. There are times when color choices have been perfect and I love them the whole way through. However, this time I have second guessed myself several times along the way and have almost started over. This week I am back to loving the colors. Hopefully a new baby boy will too :)

Eating
Paisley is my non-eater. Sometimes it takes bribes to get her to eat so she won't wither away. Recently it was mac and cheese on the couch with spongebob on. She also had a handful of raisins. The usual rule is no food out of the kitchen, but I have given in on several occasions with her so she will consume more than just a bite of something.

Birthday Party
We reap some great benefits by living near Tina, the family baker. She is working at The Cake Stand a few days a week now and her gift to Ethen was to make him a yummy cake. She came up with the great idea of a snowboard cake and did an amazing job. It was sooooo yummy. THANKS TINA! She is scoring some major points in the favorite Aunt department :)
This year Ethen really wanted to have a sleepover so somehow I got talked into doing that for a party. He had 3 of his friends over and they consumed plenty of pizza, cake, ice cream, and popcorn. They stayed up till the wee hours of the morning playing Apples to Apples and many rounds of Rock Band and even watched a movie. Amazingly Paisley slept through all the ruckus and I think they had a great time.

Ethen's 10th Birthday!
Today marks a major milestone. Ethen has hit the double digits and is now officially 10! I can hardly belive it. He wanted Olive Garden for dinner so that he could indulge in his favorite meal of cheese ravioli and we topped it off with homemade cream puffs for dessert. He will have a real cake when he has his party this weekend. Ethen is growing into an amazing young man and we are so very proud of him. He is doing awesome in school and is so smart and responsible. He is a wonderful help with the younger kids and brings us such joy.
He was totally surprised to get this leopard gecko, yet to be named. We all think it is really cute.

Sunny Duck Days
As they say in Texas, "If you don't like the weather just wait 30 minutes and it will change." We have had some really warm days this winter and when those days come we want to be outside as much as possible. One day we went to feed the ducks and have a family picnic. It was so nice outside and the ducks would even eat right out of your hand.
Luke being funny for the camera. For some reason he is really into making mustaches!
