My Granny

My Granny's Birthday is coming up on the 17th. I have been thinking of her a lot lately and thought it was a fitting time to put up some cute pictures of her. Her home is in San Diego and was the one anchor I had growing up. It was my home away from home and we spent many summers there. My memories go way back and for me that is pretty huge because I have no memory. I would always get sad when she would update the house with new things like carpet or furniture because I always wanted it to stay the same. She would laugh at me and think it was silly for me to love the orange shag carpet that was there for years. I really think that orange is my favorite color because of that house. It had fantastic 70's orange all over the place for so many years! My Granny and I are kindred spirits. I love you Granny and hope your birthday is wonderful. Can't wait to see you in September!!!!

I love that you have such good feelings and an attachment to to MY home! I wonder if your children will ever know where Nana's house is and have an attachment to it! Love, Mom

I love my Granny! She is the most amazing woman and really feels more like a sister to me than a grandmother. We are so blessed to have her!

i feel exactly the same about my grandmother's house! it was always like going home to my childhood whenever i visited her in houston. she had those classic 70's citrus colors everywhere and never updated a thing. she's gone now and i miss visiting the house and her so much. fortunately, i took lots of photos of the house last time i went to see her. unfortunately, it was before i knew very much about photography. still love the pictures, though. it's wonderful that your kids get to know your granny.

are you driving to san diego? if you're coming through the phx area, let me know! you're welcome to crash here. whenever we visited cali from tx when i was a kid, it took us the 1st day to get across tx, then we'd stop at my aunt's in mesa before heading over to my grandparents. what a trip that was with a van full of 8 kids!
