Fun Weekend

We just had a really fun weekend with lots of friends at Possum Kingdom Lake. It is about 2 1/2 hours away from our house and we went to a YMCA campground where we rented and shared cabins that were right next to the lake. The best part is they are air conditioned, so it was my kind of camping! The lake was there for swimming and they had lots of activities to do as well, like archery, riflery, hiking, horseback riding, trailer rides, and of course campfires. Luke amazed everyone with his tree climbing capabilities. He was totally fearless and would climb way up these great, huge trees and just walk along the branches sometimes. We all had a really great time and the kids loved it all.

More Lake pics

Here are some more pictures from the lake last weekend. This is up at Lake Texoma. We are storing our boat up there now and it is nice to not have to haul it all the way out to the Lake from our town. The boat is so fun, but I must say having a great family activity to do together is so priceless. Someday these will be our kids memories of a happy life growing up, and some fun family bonding.

Star of the Week

Ethen was Star of the Week this last week. It was for the core value of Patience. I must say, that he has even been being patient at home with his brother and sisters. It is hard for him, being the oldest and having to help out the most and deal with the little ones. But he tries hard and I am so proud of him. He is a great kid!

My kids are AWESOME!

The weather is warm here in Texas and even though the Lake is still a bit cool it is officially boating season at the Bergen house! This year we got the kids their own wake board and they have both taken right to it. Below you will see some sweet video of them. Seriously, my kids might be the coolest ever. Sorry, yours will never be as awesome :) Hey- their my kids, I'm supposed to be proud!

Miami Trip of Relaxation

I just spent a long weekend in Miami with my friend Gina. We needed a vacation from our lives and it was sooooo great. We slept in, ate amazing food, and saw things we had never seen before. If you like to people watch like I do then Miami is a place I highly recommend. There was so much diversity there. Tons of different languages spoken and so much to take in all the time. The beach is beautiful and the water is so clear and the most gorgeous green. We got whistled at by the man driving the Brinks truck (that didn't really make us feel too good) but hey at this point in life it is nice to know that anyone is still looking! We actually witnessed a valet taking a car on a joy ride (can you say Ferris Bueller). Saw a little girl, probably about 6 years old, in a thong bikini. Saw lots of beautiful people and way too many people in bathing suits they shouldn't have been trying to get away with. It was such a great weekend! Scott was so great and took Friday off to stay home with the kids, and I owe Katie BIG time for taking me to the airport and taking my 2 little ones for half of Thursday. I feel so much better after getting some me time and soaking in the humidity, sun, sand, and surf!!!!

Happy Mother

Today was probably the best mother's day ever for me. Probably because I didn't have to be a mother at all for half of the day. I was on my way back from a fantastic weekend in Miami (will post on that later). But got back here about noon and was greeted by the most beautiful roses and sweet letters from the kids on the kitchen counter. Then I had about and hour and half to relax from traveling before the family got home from church. It was so fun to see them run in and give me big hugs. Scott was so great and let me take a nap without disturbance and fixed an awesome steak dinner. Paisley has barely wanted to leave my side and has been full of smiles all afternoon. I love these kiddos, and Scott for a wonderful day. Thanks for a super mother's day!

Moocher

Luke is the extreme food moocher of all time. He doesn't think twice about going up to anyone and begging their food off of them. He may even just take a piece himself. I am not sure when it will settle in that it isn't OK to just take other people's food, but it must at some point. The classic example of this was about a week ago we were at the park and there is a nice Japanese, grandma that takes her little ones out often. She doesn't really speak much English, but is very friendly. Well I look over and Luke is sharing their snacks with them. So I have to go over and tell him not to do that, and of course she says it is fine. But wait, not even 2 minutes later she has peeled a banana and there is Luke leaning toward it with his mouth open. She actually fed it to him. The whole thing. He didn't want to touch it since his hands were dirty. But the site of it was just hilarious. I think Luke might have eaten almost all the snacks she brought! It was one of those times I really wished I had the video camera running.

Haircut

Phoebe has had several of her friends cut their hair short. She has been asking me to let her cut hers for a couple weeks now. So I finally cut it last night. Not really short, because the last time she asked for it to be short I did cut it really short and she cried. This time I still ended up cutting off about 5 inches. It should be so much easier to brush now!:)

New Glasses

Here are the new glasses. The new scrip. is taking some getting used to. Everything looks really close up, but I haven't gotten a horrible headache from them so I think they will be good. After a couple days I am sure I will be totally used to them. They are two-toned with brown and green. Very suttle though, I think it brings out the green in my eyes. It is nice not having to walk around with the broken ones half falling off anymore. People were starting to look at me a little funny!

Happy Anniversary

Today marks 36 years for my Mom and Dad. Congratulations to the two most wonderful people in the world!!!! I love you.

Finally

I finally did it! Yes, I may be the last person on earth to do it. Even some of Phoebe's 7 year old friends already have them. I got a cell phone! I decided to get a prepaid kind since I don't need it for aimless talking, and I am so cheap and this way was the cheapest. I really just need it in case the school tries to call while I'm out or if some emergency happens. Everyone tells me that it will turn into more use than that, so we will see. I haven't used it yet to call anyone and I have had it for 4 days. So now I am part of the wireless world :)

Fun with Pais

Ethen had some fun with Paisley and wanted me to post it on the blog. He thought Paisley looked so cool with the mohawk he gave her and he even took the picture himself. Ethen takes such great care of Paisley and is always making sure she is happy. She loves these necklaces and so Ethen kept putting them off and on for her. I am slightly afraid of the strangulation factor here so won't let her wander around with them on unless my eye is on her. In my old age I am starting to figure out that I get more paranoid about silly things the older I get. Why is that? It's really annoying. One of these days I will end up on Dr. Phil talking about some psycho fear I can't pinpoint why its there. But I digress
