Powder Mountain Trip 2009

Scott took his annual father kid ski trip last week. This year Phoebe got to go for her 1st time. She got all her gear for Christmas and was ready to go with the boys. Nathan came up with Annie and Graeme so that made for and even better time to be with some family. I stayed home with the 2 younger kids, but was kinda bummed that I didn't decide to go. It would have been so fun to see them on the slopes. Annie and Phoebe spent the 1st day in ski school, but they didn't have enough instructors so Scott ended up working with Phoebe the second half of the day. She has natural talent, just like Ethen and Scott, and did amazingly. She took right too it and by day 3 wasn't even falling down anymore. She got several compliments on her cute outfit and that made her smile. Ethen seems like he has been boarding forever and took to the slopes full force. He loves going off in the powder and trees. He was very proud to tell Mom that he went into the trees when she told him not to do that on this trip. Apparantly Daddy slamming into a tree and getting a huge bruise didn't deter Ethen at all! Really I just don't want him in the back country tree areas and Scott wouldn't have taken him there.... yet. They got a chance to visit with James too. I am glad he was able to stop by so they could visit for a bit. They haven't seen James since before his mission over 2 years ago. John came up to ski for a day with everyone too. Here are A LOT of pictures!! Enjoy!!

Ahhhhh

I came across this fabulousness of designer Phoebe Howard . I am now going to try to figure out a way to have leopard carpet running up my stairs someday. This is exactly what I LOVE; a bit of elegance that has something crazy going on. Not to mention how I absolutely adore white balusters with the handle black. All the contrasting black and white is just lovely. Go see her website for more beautiful rooms.

Games

Not that I should be wasting my time with online games, but they are fun. I have become a little addicted to yahoo games recently. They are free and pretty easy, but still make me have to think a little and that is good for my brain :) Right? So if your in need of a little "me" time for some silly fun try these ones out.

Paisley's 2nd Birthday

My baby is 2 today! I can hardly believe it. Just in the last week or so she has started to seem older to us. She wants to do everything herself these days, but still likes to be held a lot. Tina made another adorable cake with the help of Lindsay this time. We had a small family party with just us, the Barr's, and Grandma. Paisley got a baby doll stoller that she has been running around the house with ever since. We were barely able to get her to come back and open the rest of her presents.

Valentine Hair

Today the kids will celebrate Valentine's at school so I just had to do Phoebe's hair all cute. I found a really great idea on the Babes In Hairland blog and tried it out this morning on Phoebe. The ribbon wrapped hair is supposed to look like a heart, but it is a little floppy. Next time I will wrap the ribbon the other direction and that should help hould the tops up better. I was still really happy with it and thought it turned out pretty cute.

Out with the Old, In with the Newer

It was time to say goodbye to our Tahoe. We have outgrown it (if that is really possible) and needed to upgrade to a Suburban. We put our Tahoe, with broken A/C, up on Craigslist and sold it 2 days later! I must say we have had awesome success selling cars on there. Always quick and for way more $ than a trade would have been. We needed a vehicle with more cargo room in the back, but most importantly it had to be able to pull our boat. I don't love having to drive a monster car, but with 4 kids, a dog, and a boat there aren't really many options for me. That being said, Scott knows I have a love for blinged out tires and found me a nice one with wheels. Now I have the fun of figuring out all the new buttons! If you know me at all then you know I love lots of buttons in cars :) I will be sooooo happy to have air conditioning back this summer and hopefully gas prices will stay down. Thank you to Scott for working a great deal and getting me a new car... I mean truck. The salesman said it was a nice Valentine's present and although I laughed I do think it counts. Love you!

Too close to a Tree

This is what it looks like when you (that means Scott) get to close to a tree while snowboarding. I have included some pictures of the nasty hematoma/bruise progression. It actually looks worse in person, but you get the basic idea. I should note that this wreck with a tree did not keep him down and he continued to board the rest of the day. I think he should probably stay out of the woods in the future and I consider it a small miracle that he didn't break his leg.

Polar Bear Swim

To celebrate what would have been Peter's 9th birthday, the Barr's combined 2 of the things Peter loved best. Polar Bears and swimming. We all jumped into the pool and then made a rush for the hot tub. Even Luke and Paisley got their feet in before warming up in the hot tub. It was a fun way to share some memories and remember Peter.
