Note

NOTE TO SELF - Stop leaving glasses out where Paisley can get to them. She broke both of these just a few days apart. I have been meaning to get new eyeglasses for awhile so this made it absolutely necessary, but I really liked my sunglasses :(

Relay for Life

Last night was our McKinney Relay for Life event to support cancer research. I was out til 2:30 a.m. and had such a great time. Thank you to all who helped support the cause. A bunch of us mom's got out and danced at midnight with all the teenagers and we had so much fun. It was a great event and I am already on board for going next year. Unfortunately most of my pictures turned out blurry for some reason,I guess I didn't have a steady hand after staying up so late. Sally was even so sweet and baked cupcakes for my birthday and had a candle and everything :)

Birthday

Here is the cake the kids made for my birthday. I wasn't allowed to look at it until cake time and was banished from the kitchen during all making processes. In case you can't read it, it says Happy Birthday. They are sweet.

Haircut

Luke really, really hates getting his hair cut. So to make it as quick as possible we decided to just shave it off. This way he can go months without needing another one. Personally I love the longer hair on toddlers, but it was getting too long and in his eyes. I did it with the buzzers. Usually Scott does the boys hair, but I felt like it the other day and decided to just get it over with. I can't decide if it makes him look older or younger.

Muddy Bliss

Maybe not in the face

Paisley had a great time in the mud "helping" me water the tree. She didn't like it so much when she splashed it in her face though.

Diggin

Our brother and sister in law are putting a pool in and the kids were able to get up in the rig while the hole was being dug out. They thought that was so awesome.

An old (7 months ago) video of Luke that I love

She's watchin

Our little Paisley may not be talking much yet, but she pays attention to everything, and this week gets major brownie points for being super awesome!!! She now will take trash and put it in the trash can. What, no big deal you think? She does this without being asked and really has never been shown to do it. She just has watched us doing it and thought it would be fun to be a big girl and do it herself. I can't really say any of my kids do anything without being asked so I am ecstatic about this one. I am sure it will just be a short lived phase and pretty soon she will be throwing everything in the trash and it will have to be stored in the pantry where she can't open the door yet. But I am thinking positive and sure she will only throw trash in there :)

Mr. Luke's Wild Ride

Old?!

Ok I have looked at the picture a bunch now and am sad to say that I am looking OLD! I mean how can that be? I am only 32 (almost, not quite). I have wrinkles on my forhead and crows feet starting around my eyes. Is that for real? I am scared at what I will look like at 42. I remember Granny telling me the face she saw in the mirror wasn't the one she expected and now I know what she meant. That is really strange actually. To have a picture of yourself in your mind and it isn't what you actually see looking back at you everyday. And why, may I ask, do men age so much better. I think they get sexier with age and women just don't have it the same. There are some lucky actresses, but that is probably why they are famous. Anyway I am not trying to be depressing at all. I just couldn't help but notice.

Munchkin

Well it is official, Paisley is a munchkin. I took her to her 1 year check-up (yes I know she is almost 14 months, but at least I got her in) and she is only 18 pounds. That put her all the way in the 7% for babies her age. She is healthy though and doing great, so we just have a petite little one. Kinda strange after all our haus babies, but she is sure cute!

Too close for comfort

Last night I woke up to Kia (our dog) prancing around frantically at close to 4 a.m. I thought she might need an early potty break, but she went out really fast and then kept freaking out and then the tornado sirens started. If you think only trailer parks get messed up from tornadoes, think again. Here is the destruction from a neighborhood just 4 miles down the road from me. We have had the sirens sound 2 times now in just a month. I guess I should expect it more often (we do live in tornado alley), but I hope that's it for awhile. We were lucky and didn't even have a shingle blow off the roof. I didn't get very good shots of people's actual houses because I didn't want to be rude. Crazy!@
Yeah, that's heavy duty guard rail!

check out how mangled the trampoline is!
This is at the movie theatres, which are only about 1 mile away.

The Patio

I can't believe I haven't blogged this one yet. I guess because we got it before I started blogging. We had it poured when Scott was still at his last job so I guess it isn't totally new, but this will be our 1st summer with it. We think we will have an arbor type thing built with the $$ the government is sending out next month. That will help finish it off. It is a big size and takes up most of the one side of the house. There is a little planter we left under the window by the entrance to the fence. That is a red maple tree we planted and it will shade the kitchen and part of the patio is the hot summer months as it gets bigger. It has been great for Luke to ride his bike on instead of down the street all the time :)

A path

Scott spent the better half of a Saturday piecing this path together to connect our driveway to our new patio. It looks so great. You think it is easy to just throw some rocks together, but it is harder than it looks. I gave up really quickly, but did add my cute plants in the corner that will fill in nicely. It brightens up the back corner of the house.

RATS!

Ok so i was just outside admiring the pretty flowers and a man comes over from the house next door and asks if I have had a rat problem! Uh- what did you just say? cause I thought I heard you say rat? and I am sure you didn't mean cute ones like in Ratatouille.
The house next door has been vacant since November and has now gone into foreclosure and apparently has a serious rat problem. This guy says it is the worst case he has seen. Should I be seriously worried about them taking residence up in my house? I am SERIOUSLY grossed out beyond words. I have never even seen a rat in our yard and apparently they are living it up right next door.

Nuts

We took a walk/some biked yesterday afternoon and came across one of the pecan trees close by. Ethen loves to find them and get them out of the shells. I'm not sure if he actually likes the eating of the nut so much as finding them and breaking the shell open. He is facinated with getting his own fresh. So the kids all gathered some up and took them home to crack since smashing them with a shoe was just breaking most of the nut up too. They then tried to think of what I make that requires pecans and said that from now on they would shell fresh ones for it. Then they thought of shelling them and putting them in bags and trying to sell them at our next garage sale. After getting 3 out Ethen realized it would take a long time to fill 1 bag, but I wouldn't put it past him to try.

Marshmallows NEED more sugar?

I had never seen these before, but they must be all over Asia since that is where they come from. Both my kids won some at The Zone tonight. I can't imagine why a marshmallow would need more sugar, but both of my kids LOVED them. Phoebe had a grape flavored one and Ethen got a orange. One wrapped marshmallow filled with flavored jelly!

Star of the Week

Phoebe is Star of the Week for her 1st grade class this month. She was awarded this for the core value of Joy and this fits her personality perfectly. Always smiling and giggling! Her cousin Lindsey was awarded it as well for her 5th grade class so we have a girl cousin pic here.

Adorable

THIS is why people love to have girls. It is strictly for the dressing. Can you get stuff cuter than this? I have a slight addiction to shopping for my kids clothes online, i.e. ebay, etsy. Here is one of my latest finds and I must say it is so adorable and girly. I have bought a few things recently and almost changed her into everyone to take pics and post them here, but thought better of it. Why struggle to change her outfit and end up with crying pictures instead?
