Nuts

We took a walk/some biked yesterday afternoon and came across one of the pecan trees close by. Ethen loves to find them and get them out of the shells. I'm not sure if he actually likes the eating of the nut so much as finding them and breaking the shell open. He is facinated with getting his own fresh. So the kids all gathered some up and took them home to crack since smashing them with a shoe was just breaking most of the nut up too. They then tried to think of what I make that requires pecans and said that from now on they would shell fresh ones for it. Then they thought of shelling them and putting them in bags and trying to sell them at our next garage sale. After getting 3 out Ethen realized it would take a long time to fill 1 bag, but I wouldn't put it past him to try.

How about buying a nutcracker, and I DO mean the kind your dad brought me back from one of his early trips to Germany. He wondered why on earth I would ask him to bring me back a little metal tool to crack nuts with!

Maybe if Ethen is serious, you should plant a tree!

yeah he asked for a tree, but I don't want all those nuts in my lawn and this tree is just around the block so that works just fine!

Jared's parents have a pecan tree in their backyard. When we visit and there are pecans it keeps Dax busy. A great way to keep kids busy and out of trouble for just a little bit. :)
