Rocks

Rocks, rock hunting, and more rocks. This is what I have been doing since returning from Korea. I have been rock hunting. I came home and found one of my neighbors had edged her yard with rocks and let me in on her secret of recycling them. Something just clicked in my head and I was addicted. At first I think I did it to avoid laying down and falling asleep from the jet-lag. Then it turned into this need to find big rocks and pretty ones; like a great scavenger hunt. I picked and hauled all of these rocks myself (except for a few of the large ones that Ethen and Phoebe helped me carry). I laid them all out and have spent the last 2 weeks working on it almost everyday, getting them placed just right so they fit together and stand up. I did take 2 days off that were cold, but otherwise it has been an ongoing process. I just love spring and the yummy warm sun mixed with cool air; perfect for working in the yard. I am still not completely done yet, but I am sooo happy with how it has turned out and all for free :)

I found the rocks just out in fields or places that have been excavated recently. Don't go taking any from builders sites without asking permission first. I pretty much stay away from those areas as that seems a little like stealing to me. The best places are areas that have discarded them after building a retaining wall. They hardly ever clean up the discards and after digging out the wall there are lots of natural rocks laying around that will just go back under all the dirt over time.
